College Certificate Goals:

  • To have a fundamental understanding of artificialintelligence, its history, and its significance in contemporary society
  • Understand the basics of machine learning, including supervised and unsupervised learning, and enable them to implement and evaluate machine-learning models
  • Students will understand the role of data, data warehousing, data analysis and the importance of Big Data use to the business owner
  • Students will know the various career paths in Business Analytics and know how to be a contributor on a data analysis team
  • Demonstrate comfort and familiarity with relevant software tools such as R, Hadoop and MapReduce
  • Practice Python and related data manipulation programs
  • Articulate a basic understanding of machine learning concepts and its use in passive data generationTo have a fundamental understanding of artificial intelligence, its history, and its significance in contemporary society

Certificate Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to:

  • Demonstrate fundamental understanding of the history of artificial intelligence (AI) and its foundations
  • Apply basic principles of AI in solutions that require problem solving, inference, perception, knowledge representation, and learning
  • Demonstrate awareness and a fundamental understanding of various applications of AI techniques in intelligent agents, expert systems, artificial neural networks and other machine learning models
  • Demonstrate proficiency developing applications in an AI language, expert system shell, or data mining tool
  • Demonstrate proficiency in applying scientific method to models of machine learning
  • Demonstrate an ability to share in discussions of AI, its current scope and limitations, and societal implications

Admission Requirements

To be admitted into the Computer Information Systems Program students must:

  • Fulfill all WCCCD admission requirements
  • Declare intent to enter the program on WCCCD Admission Application or in the Student Services Office

BUS: Artificial Intelligence Prompt Engineering Certificate Total: 19-20 Credits
