About the Program

The Certificate of Achievement in Artificial Intelligence with Prompt Engineering is designed to equip students with foundational knowledge and hands-on skills in the rapidly growing field of artificial intelligence (AI). The program is designed to meet the growing demand for AI skills while equipping students with practical tools and foundational knowledge to excel in a rapidly evolving technological environment.

This Program Offers

  • College Certificate (ACERT): 6 credit hours

College Certificate Goals

  • Teach students’ foundational skills in preparation for entry-level careers in Artificial Intelligence
  • Provide students with the course content and practical experience consistent with the competencies required in using AI and Prompt Engineering and other aspects of the industry

Certificate Outcomes

The Certificate of Achievement in Artificial Intelligence will offer the following:

  • Hands-On Learning Experience: By offering practical skills in both AI and prompt engineering, students will be able to directly apply the concepts they learn to real-world challenges, enhancing their problem-solving abilities and increasing their marketability
  • Pathway to Further Education: For students interested in pursuing advanced degrees or certifications in AI, this certificate will serve as a strong foundation, providing a robust understanding of AI concepts and applications that can be built upon in future studies
  • Advancing Technological Literacy and Innovation Promoting AI Literacy: As AI technologies become central to everyday life, there is an increasing need for a population that understands and can interact with AI effectively. This program will foster greater AI literacy among students, preparing them not only for careers in technology but also for active engagement with emerging technologies in their personal and professional lives
  • By completing this certificate, students will be equipped with both foundational AI knowledge and specialized skills in prompt engineering, preparing them for entry-level roles in AI development, data analysis, and other AI-driven fields

Admission Requirements

To be admitted into the Artificial Intelligence Prompt Engineering Certificate Program students must:

  • Fulfill all WCCCD admission requirements
  • Declare Computer Information Systems or Cybersecurity as program intent at the campus admission office
  • Fulfill course placement requirements based on the ACCUPLACER assessment
  • Existing WCCCD students must also have completed CIS 110 and CIS 112.
  • Complete a WCCCD Program Application and submit to the Campus Academic Officer

Certificate Total: 6 Credits
